The Ofer Group story is a classic tale of a family's journey from rags to riches.

In 1956 two enterprising brothers opened a small shipping chandlery. Their integrity and professionalism became their trademark, and enabled Sammy and Yuli Ofer to risk everything when they took the leap into ship ownership. Thus began a journey which has led to Ofer Brothers becoming Israel’s largest, privately held group of companies.

As the family grew, so did its multi national business and the team that made it so successful.

Udi Angel joined the company in the 1970s, became Chairman of Ofer Maritime in 1980 and is today Chairman of Ofer Holdings Group. In 1997, Ofer Hi-Tech was launched, leveraging the team's expertise in financial markets and building global companies. Soon after, in 1999, Ofer acquired 13% of Israel Corporation, Israel's largest holding company, as part of expanded Ofer controlling group, propelling the company’s value over the years.

More recently, in 2005, a market opportunity was seized with the launch of Ofer Aviation and in the following year, Ofer Private Equity was established to build on Ofer Group's global portfolio.

In 2007, Ofer Group broadened its scope with the launch of Ofer Media, while in 2008, Ofer Management's real estate operations became the newest addition to the family.

Today, the next generations - including Sammy and Yuli Ofer’s children and grand-children - are taking the family business to new heights. The multi-billion dollar global investment group is extending into new and specialized areas, each generation is dedicated to maintaining the values which make Ofer Group the company, and name, it is today.
